A handful of stores in one city

/ The context /

Why this sector, why now.

Margin in retail is made and lost in three places that head office cannot see in real time: the shelf, the cabinet and the delivery that supplies both. Connecting them puts pricing, availability and cold integrity under one console across the estate.

  • 01A fast-changing consumer market

Quality of Life initiatives, tourism and new entertainment destinations are changing how and where people shop. Retailers are opening formats and locations faster than their systems adapt.

  • 02Saudisation of store roles

Workforce localisation is changing store staffing and skills. Routine checks that relied on experienced staff need to become systems that guide any team.

  • 03Food waste under the spotlight

Reducing food loss and waste is a stated national priority. Fresh and chilled product lost to temperature failures is now a reputational issue as well as a cost.

/ The challenges /

What the operation is up against.

01

Price changes lag the decision

Head office changes a price and stores update paper labels over days. Shelf and till disagree, and customers notice before managers do.

02

Cabinets fail after closing

A chiller fails overnight and the morning shift bins the stock. Nobody knows how long it was warm or why.

03

Energy costs hide in the estate

Refrigeration, lighting and HVAC run to local habit in every store. The difference between the best and worst store is invisible from head office.

04

Deliveries arrive without a record

Chilled goods are received on trust. When quality is disputed, there is no temperature or timing evidence from the vehicle.

/ What we connect /

The whole estate, on one record.

Whatever the brand, protocol or supplier — joined to the systems that already run the business.

  • HVAC and lighting
  • Energy sub-metering

On the road

  • Delivery vehicles
  • Reefer units

/ By role /

One platform. Four different questions answered.

Retail operations director

Which stores are losing margin, and where exactly on the floor?

  • Waste, energy and equipment issues compared across stores.
  • Exceptions routed to store managers with clear actions.
  • A consistent standard from the first store to the last.

Pricing and category manager

Did the price change actually reach every shelf?

  • Prices pushed to shelf labels across the estate in minutes.
  • Confirmation of what updated and what did not.
  • Promotions that start and end on time.

Store manager

Will I know before the stock in that cabinet is lost?

  • Cabinet alerts on phone before product is at risk.
  • Temperature history for every unit, ready for inspection.
  • Fewer manual checks on the daily list.

Supply chain manager

Are chilled deliveries arriving in the condition we paid for?

  • Live temperature and arrival times for each delivery.
  • Records attached to goods receipt.
  • Evidence for supplier conversations that settles disputes.

/ How we engage /

From first conversation to the whole estate.

  1. 1

    Pick the stores

We choose a small group of representative stores with category, operations and facilities teams, and agree the margin questions to answer.

  2. 2

    Connect shelf and cabinet

Install shelf labels, cabinet sensors and energy metering. Connect to pricing and POS systems so changes and alerts flow automatically.

  3. 3

    Compare against control

Measure waste, energy and pricing accuracy against comparable stores. Refine alert rules and store routines with managers.

  4. 4

    Roll out the estate

Extend city by city, add distribution centres and delivery fleets, and give head office one console across every store.

/ Compliance /

The record the regulator asks for, produced as you operate.

Confirm the exact format your authority requires and we map the export to it.

  • 01Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA)

Continuous temperature records across cabinets, cold rooms and vehicles are designed to support the food safety record-keeping SFDA expects of food retailers and distributors.

  • 02MOMRAH / Balady

Store environment and equipment records are structured to support the documentation municipal inspections and Balady licensing can require of retail premises.

  • 03Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL)

Where footfall or loyalty data is involved, access controls and anonymisation options are designed to support PDPL obligations overseen by SDAIA.

/ Questions /

Frequently asked.

Do electronic shelf labels work with our ERP?

Yes. Prices and product data flow from your ERP or merchandising system to the labels. We scope the integration against your current systems before installation begins.

Can we monitor cabinets from different makers?

Yes. Retrofit sensors work across cabinet brands, and some modern units can be read directly. The console shows every cabinet the same way regardless of make.

How is store connectivity handled?

Devices can use the store network, cellular or low-power wide-area networks. We choose per store based on building construction, existing infrastructure and your IT policies.

Where is the data hosted?

Inside the Kingdom. Store, pricing and any customer-related data stays in Saudi Arabia on a sovereign platform, with controls designed around NCA and PDPL requirements.

How many stores should a pilot cover?

Enough to compare fairly, usually a few stores in one city alongside similar stores as a control. That gives a clear result without slowing down the decision.
